About This Tour
Udawalawe National Park is built around a reservoir and open scrubland, which means visibility is excellent. This is the park to visit if seeing elephants matters more to you than the thrill of the chase. Herds of 20 or more are a common sight, and the park is also home to water buffalo, crocodiles and a resident population of raptors. It's a natural stop if you're travelling between Ella and the south coast, since it barely adds a detour.

Morning
Pick-up and park entry
We collect you from your hotel or arrange a meeting point along your travel route, then head into the park for the first game drive of the day.

Reservoir and grassland circuit
The jeep tracks the reservoir edge and open plains where elephant herds gather to feed and drink.
Midday
Optional Elephant Transit Home
If timing allows, we stop at the nearby rehabilitation centre to see orphaned calves being cared for before release.
